Configuring Outlook 98,2000

Microsoft Outlook 98 and 2000
To add a new email account to your existing profile:

1. From the Tools menu, select "Accounts." If you do not see "Accounts," place your cursor over the two arrows at the bottom of the list to display more choices.


2. Click the "Add" button.
3. From the Add menu, click "Mail."

 

4. Type your name as you would like it to appear when you send a message in the Display name box and click "Next."

 


5. In the Email Address box, enter your User Mail address (for example, "user@yourcompany.com") and click "Next."

 

6. In the box labeled "My incoming mail server is a..." select "POP3" server.
7. In the Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server box, type "pop.yourcompany.com"
8. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type "mail.yourisp.com"
Click "Next."

 

9. In the Account Name box, enter your User Mail box name (your address with the "@yourcompany.com").
10. In the Password box, enter your User Mail password.
11. Do not check "Log On Using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)."
Click "Next."

 


12. Choose the appropriate connection type under the Which Method Do You Use to Connect to the Internet heading.
13. If you chose "Connect using my phone line," you will need to select a dial-up connection in the Dial up Connection Wizard and click "Next."
Click "Finish."


To control deletion of messages from our servers:
1. From the Tools menu, select "Accounts."
Click on the "Mail" tab.
2. Select your User E-mail account and click "Properties."
3. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
4. Check "Leave a copy of messages on server" if you want to save your Company's Mail messages on our servers as well as on your local computer. Do not check this box if you want your messages to be deleted from our servers once you have received them in Outlook.
Click "OK."
Close Microsoft Outlook and restart.


NOTE: *mail.yourisp.com* means your internet service provider like bellsouth.net, earthlink.net. AOL will not work with Outlook when sending mail.
